There are some things that take time to get used to and technology is likely one of them when it comes to your aging parents. If your folks are totally adverse to getting high-tech we’ve got a few ideas for how you can start them off slowly so they don’t panic. Just make sure you show them the ropes.
TV – Get them a plasma TV for a holiday occasion or even Direct tv for the one they already have. Dealing with tons of channels and newfangled buttons is actually a great warm up for them when it comes to getting more accustomed to technology.
Laptop – Your folks may be a long cry away from a Mac but they’ll likely get some enjoyment out of a basic, small laptop. Teach them how to watch YouTube videos and talk to them about the functions of email and social networking.
Phones – Where you go with phones depends on whether or not they’re already using cells. If not, get them a simple flip phone that they can share and if so, see if you can talk them into upgrading to a smartphone that you can teach them about.
